To get the most out of this book you will need the followings:
. Visual Studio 2010
. Silverlight 3, 4 or 5
. Blend 4 or 5
. Windows Phone SDK & Tools
. All sample code are in CSharp
. Basic knowledge of Silverlight and ADO.NET

This book go through the learning of Silverlight of version 3, 4, and especially 5. It gets deeply into data binding and data grid. It shows how to use Blend 5 to build applications that use data binding features.

This book also cover MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel) aspects of working with data and build Windows Phone 7 application.

That is not all, it also explore the use of Silverlight to communicate with serv ices with XML, JSON, SOAP over WCF and REST services, plus accessing local SQL CE database and SQL Azure cloud services. It has sample show how to access web services lik Bing, Twitter, Flickr and more.

With the sample code you can use it as a starting point to build some real pratical applications.

This is a cookbook style and it uses a pattern that you can easily pick and choose which area that interest you and build from there.
