I have been looking for a way to turn off "Log in to post comments" on the Drupal front page for some time now and there isn't a real answer to this question and it is very frustrating!
I finally figure out and the solution is very simple one!
All you have to do is to go to "admin/people/permissions#module-comment" and turn off "Post comments" for "authenticated user"
That's it!
